Special features

08 August 2016

There is no such thing as a standard design in conveyors so Rusmail works hard to maximise the spec to fit the parameters of a customer’s application.

When creating a solution for a Midlands based metal casting firm, Rusmail studied the environment and the ergonomics to come up with a safe, adaptable, robust and mobile conveyor unit.

The special design features took account of fact it would need to handle metal castings, with up to three on the conveyor at any time. The unit load per casting is around 10kg, but the conveyor was rated at 750kg to enable it to operate in harsh conditions.

The heavy duty conveyor required a 5mm thick bed and a 6mm thick smooth rubber belt. Heavy duty drive and tail end rollers were fitted and the drive powered by a 0.75kW motor with Duplex chains.

To achieve the aim of a fully mobile unit it featured cast iron wheels with hardwearing polyurethane tread and, for safe operation, the conveyor had an auto-restart function provided via concealed photo-electric cells and several individual start-stop control switches.
