Protecting bearings
30 January 2017
According to AESSEAL, it is possible to eliminate over 50% of bearing failures in rotating equipment by using bearing protection.

The company says that extensive testing has proved that lip seals, although inexpensive, cannot efficiently protect bearings as they have a short effective lifespan, meaning a high potential for breakdown from the loss or contamination of bearing oil and the ingress of water. In addition to this, AESSEAL says they can cause serious wear to shafts, resulting in severe damage and increasing repair costs.
The LabTecta OP bearing protector is designed to improve your pumping equipment life, along with process uptime and operational profit. Effective bearing protection will help reduce maintenance costs, operational losses and clean up costs. Through its dynamic lift technology the LabTecta OP allows equipment to breathe during operation but is sealed upon stoppage, preventing the ingress of contaminants.
Bearing protectors can even be installed on a shaft that has been previously damaged by a lip seal, so shaft replacement is not necessary. No ongoing maintenance is required.
