Pumping up production
06 December 2017
W Robinson and Sons supplies pumps for sewage, emergency drainage and water supply. To meet demand principally from UK and Irish plant and tool hire firms, the company is stepping production of its Hatz engine-powered sets and in particular its range of Koshin 2in pumps and the RED B2/B3 range of diesel transfer pumps.

Peter Hey, W Robinson’s product sales consultant explains: “We are witnessing a real rise in demand for portable, diesel powered pumps, with the Hatz engine becoming a preferred option. Our customers tell us that this is due primarily to the reliability of the units, plus the quick and efficient availability and supply of spare parts.”
“In our experience, the after-sales, back-up service is the most valuable part of any mechanical equipment and it is essential that although the unit is reliable, when there is a breakdown it can fixed efficiently and quickly due to down time cost. The service we have had from Hatz has always been fantastic. They have always dealt with technical enquiries well and parts are always readily available for servicing etc.”
Koshin is one of the world’s biggest Japanese engine pump manufacturer. The W Robinson range of Koshin/Hatz pumps is assembled at works in the UK. Models available include centrifugal, high pressure and trash duty. The RED B2/B3 range of diesel driven, diesel transfer pumps are available in 2 or 3in recoil start or recoil and electric start with a full crash frame with wheels. They are powered by a Hatz diesel engine, self-priming and fitted with a spark arrestor, Viton seals and O rings.
Over the last 91 years, W Robinson and Sons has grown steadily and is currently headed by the third generation of Robinson's and to this day boasts its own product lines and manufacturing partners supplying OEM products to customers and dealers in the UK, Ireland and mainland Europe.
Hatz diesel engines have been around since 1910, and continue to remain a family-owned concern. From their manufacturing base in Ruhstorf, Germany, Hatz produces a range of modern diesel engines from 3 to 56kW. These are used to power a wide range of construction, agricultural, pumping and access machinery.
UK subsidiary, Hatz GB, has its facilities in Hinckley, Leicestershire.
