TO HELP manage the risks associated with power quality issues in Germany, CP Automation and SineTamer have partnered with PQ ENGINEERING Nosswitz.
The German company provides a holistic power quality service, covering everything from the supply of specific devices to onsite support and commissioning. Following the partnership, it will include SineTamer devices as part of its ‘Swiss army knife’ filter - a unit featuring multiple mitigation devices - to help its customers address transients, supraharmonics and other issues.
Based in Otterfing, Germany, PQ ENGINEERING Nosswitz has operated for over 50 years and, in the last 30 years, has focused entirely on power quality and voltage stability in the commercial and industrial sectors. As a result, the team has worked with some of the country’s biggest names in the automotive, food and beverage and chemical markets.
PQ ENGINEERING Nosswitz now provides SineTamer’s transient frequency attenuation devices (TFAD). These use special frequency attenuation circuitry rather than voltage actuation, meaning it can actively track and follow the sine wave form, protecting all 360 degrees. SineTamer can also address supraharmonics waveform distortions in the frequency range 2-150 kHz which are often undetectable by conventional devices.
"In Germany, we’re rapidly moving from large power plants to decentralised sources, which has caused voltage dips and instabilities," explained Ralf Nosswitz, CEO of PQ ENGINEERING Nosswitz. "Our main products included passive and active harmonic filters, power factor correction units and our own hybrid filter - a ‘Swiss army knife’ featuring multiple mitigation devices.
"Now that we’re partnering with CPA, we’ll be adding SineTamer devices to our hybrid filter,” added Nosswitz. “Having three tools in one box is a real benefit to our customers and including a device that recognises and addresses supraharmonics is invaluable. We offer a test option, allowing customers to trial these units for two-to-three weeks before deciding whether to buy - and not one unit has been returned yet.”
"Ralf and his team clearly understand Germany’s power quality market and how the move towards distributed energy and power electronics is increasing risks," added John Mitchell, global sales and marketing director at CP Automation. "They recognise the issues associated with supraharmonics, and SineTamer was a natural fit for its existing line. We look forward to seeing its customer’s benefit."
"It’s great having a new partner in German and we’re looking forward to working with everyone at PQ ENGINEERING Nosswitz," added Jeff Edwards, CEO and founder of SineTamer. "Having spoken to Ralf, we know how issues like transients and supraharmonics are impacting the company’s commercial and industrial clients, so we were confident that our technology would only strengthen their portfolio."
