Advanced solutions for RF power sensor calibration
01 August 2023
ADVANCED ENERGY Industries has announced two new high-performance, high-accuracy technologies for RF power sensor calibration.

The TEGAM 2818A is a 9 kHz to 18 GHz power transfer standard, while the TEGAM PMX18-CS is a turnkey 9 kHz to 18 GHz system that significantly simplifies and accelerates power sensor calibration.
With an integrated USB port, the 2818A operates without a separate power meter and applies proven TEGAM transfer standard techniques to an internally-referenced thermoelectric sensor to support high-speed, high-accuracy calibration with minimal equipment. Calibration constants are stored within the sensor, eliminating the need for additional electronic storage media.
Optimised for throughput, the PMX18-CS provides cost-effective calibrations for a broad range of power sensors from leading test and measurement equipment manufacturers. The integrated solution combines a TEGAM 2505 RF power standard, a 1830A RF power meter, RF power source and Vector Network Analyzer (VNA) and performs automated calibrations in a fraction of the time required for manual processes.
"When it comes to RF power sensor calibration, technicians need to be able to trust the accuracy and performance of their equipment," said Dhaval Dhayatkar, vice president of critical sensing and control products at Advanced Energy. "Building on more than 30 years of expertise in microwave power measurement, the TEGAM 2818A and TEGAM PMX18-CS deliver that trust while simplifying and accelerating the power sensor calibration process."
The new solutions are compatible with the TEGAM PS-Cal power sensor calibration automation software. Suitable for experienced and new calibration technicians alike, this software supports calibration for a wide variety of third-party power sensors, simplifies the selection of calibration procedures and enables data storage for subsequent comparison and analysis.
