Temporary loading canopy helps boost business
03 October 2018
National logistics company Mars-Jones has seen its business grow significantly thanks to the installation of a temporary loading canopy.

The family-run business first contacted temporary buildings specialist Spaciotempo following a recommendation from a contact. Now, it has secured additional business thanks to its ability to load and unload goods undercover – a requirement stipulated by many of its customers.
Three articulated vehicles can fit under the sheltered bay, covering 247m2, at any one time. It currently measures 13 by 19m on a 6.6m eave but, due to its modular design, can be expanded as the company plans for further growth.
From start to finish, it took less than one week to install the canopy.
Managing director of Mars-Jones, Phillip Mars-Jones, says: “We first knew about Spaciotempo from a contact who had previously used the company and had recommended it for its overall quality of product and service.
“Our new canopy has already helped us grow our business significantly and we’re now able to take on contracts that we previously could not. A lot of companies now stipulate that goods and pallets must be kept covered and at certain temperatures so that they don’t get wet and dirty, leading to damaged and lost stock.”
Spaciotempo undertook a full site scan prior to construction and the in-house team provided a CAD design.
To further weatherproof the canopy and protect staff and products, the structure was built with a single sheet steel side elevation and perforated steel cladding at the rear, allowing wind to travel through safely.
A prefabricated link connects the canopy to Mars-Jones’ existing permanent warehouse while the tall eave was designed to accommodate existing roller shutter doors.
Sales manager at Spaciotempo, Dan Barker, says: “It’s been brilliant to work with Mars-Jones on this project that has helped them grow and expand their offering. To have received the enquiry through recommendation shows the quality we are achieving, right from sale, to operations and installation.”
