WD-40 uses product giveaway to recruit testers
21 October 2021
THE COMPANY is looking to broaden its range of specialist products developed for industry. It needs 3,000 professionals to give their feedback on its new Fast Release Penetrant and Fast Acting Degreaser. In what is believed to be an industry first, the company is giving away 6,000 products.

WD-40 has launched an ambitious campaign to recruit 3,000 ‘product testers’ as it bids to further improve its Fast Release Penetrant and Fast Acting Degreaser that sit within its Specialist product range.
WD-40 has launched its campaign aimed solely at professional engineers involved with maintaining machinery used with all aspects of manufacturing and production.
Each participant will receive a specially designed ‘Product Testers Pack’ that includes a full size 400ml can of Fast Release Penetrant and a full size 500ml can of Fast Acting Degreaser with the only requirement being that they use the product and, where possible, provide their honest feedback on how and where the products are used.
WD-40’s Trade Marketing Manager Gurpreet Pawar, explained: “WD-40 is an iconic brand known the world over for our multi-use product. In reality, we are far more and offer a range of specialist products developed specifically to help professionals.
“Like every business we do not like to rest on our laurels and are always looking ahead and in order to continually evolve and improve our products, there is simply no substitute for real life testing, hence our ambitious campaign to recruit 3,000 professionals.
“We do not believe a product testing programme of this magnitude has ever been undertaken within the maintenance sector before. We are, in effect, giving away 6,000 cans of our product but, in order to provide the broadest and most comprehensive analysis, we feel it is necessary.”
