Hire industry's battery vision hits Gateshead
11 March 2022
THE TRADE body for the plant hire business, Hire Association Europe, will be giving its vision for a battery powered future in Gateshead on March 24.

"Transforming the hire sector landscape with sustainable battery technology" will be the focus of Hire Association Europe’s (HAE) north east regional event – in association with Snorkel U – at Hyperdrive's Turntide Technology Centre, Eighth Avenue, Princesway, Gateshead, Tyne and Wear on March 24 2022.
Hosts Hyperdrive Innovation will get the ball rolling with an overview of COP26 and how lithium-ion machines can deliver part of the solution for cutting greenhouse gas emissions. Snorkel UK, a major supplier of powered access equipment such as scissor lifts and low-level platforms, will then bust the myth that zero-emission equipment means lower profit for hirers. There will be a presentation by leading UK recycling and haulage group GAP on the waste and recycling solutions supporting the hire sector.
HAE’s Director of Certification Services, Carl Bartlett, will discuss SafeHire and Safety Schemes in Procurement (SSIP). The industry-leading SafeHire Certification Scheme allows customers to approach tool and equipment plant hire, including event hire companies, with confidence. It proves a firm’s competence in upholding high standards in health, safety, environment and quality of equipment as well as a well-trained workforce.
After investing in equipment and embracing new technology it is essential to ensure you have the correct insurance cover to manage your assets. Anders McLocklan will provide an update on the new HAE Insurance Services offering to protect members.
Hyperdrive Innovation’s facility is at the UK hub for advanced manufacturing. The business has vast experience in lithium-ion battery design, development and manufacture, operating across a range of industries. The high-tech plant is the UK’s leading independent battery manufacturer with current capacity for up to 30,000 units per year.
Carl Bartlett said: “We are focusing on sustainability using lithium-ion technology, so we’re delighted that Hyperdrive Innovation, Snorkel UK and GAP will be showcasing their significant expertise in world-class engineering at the event. There will also be opportunities for networking and to get a close-up of a lithium-ion powered MEWP (mobile elevating work platform) which will be on display.”
HAE’s NE regional event for tool, plant and equipment hire executives will provide the perfect insight into the zero-emission technology that is changing the future. Lithium battery-powered machines can help the hire sector meet rapidly growing demands for slowing down climate change, while still improving the bottom line.
