Ultrasound solutions for predictive maintenance

25 October 2018

SONOTEC Ultraschallsensorik Halle GmbH is presenting its solutions for industrial maintenance for the first time at the maintec exhibition in Birmingham. The ultrasound specialists will be focusing their exhibition presentations testing devices in the SONAPHONE family.

The ultrasound testing devices can be used to detect leaks in compressed air, gas and vacuum systems. The mobile hand-held devices are also used for steam trap and valve testing, condition-monitoring tasks such as bearing monitoring, and the detection of partial discharges. SONOTEC offers different device types depending on the task and the specific requirements.

The digital SONAPHONE ultrasound testing device means that not only can leaks be detected, but automatically evaluated at the same time as well. This is made possible thanks to broadband sensors and the LeakExpert app, which has been specially developed for leak detection. “Our SONAPHONE is a real trend-setter for Maintenance 4.0. Experience reports from service engineers show that using our latest device technology not only saves them energy, but also a lot of time”, explains Hans-Joachim Münch, Managing Director of SONOTEC.

Thanks to its sturdy housing, the mobile ultrasound testing device is suitable for use in industrial applications, The SONAPHONE can be operated intuitively like a tablet via the 5-inch display with multi-touchscreen. A user-friendly design is also paramount when it comes to the software: The different apps help the service engineer throughout the entire testing process and contain all necessary information. Test reports can be created in just a few clicks, making time-consuming and error-prone paper hardcopy recordings a thing of the past.

Visitors to maintec can see the benefits of different versions of the SONAPHONE technology for themselves: As well as the SONAPHONE E for potentially explosive areas, SONOTEC also offers a compact testing device for predictive maintenance in the form of the SONAPHONE Pocket. The smallest testing device in the SONAPHONE family is a hit with users thanks to its intuitive operation and is used primarily for leak detection on compressed air, gas and vacuum systems.
