In 2009 GYS, a French welding
equipment and battery charger
manufacturer, opened a new
R&D Centre. A major
development has been the
introduction of Power Factor
Correction (PFC) and
Flexible Voltage technology
across a range of MMA, TIG
and Plasma machines.
PFC is said to offer a host of benefits, not least in reducing power MMA machines will allow high duty cycle welding at 160A (sufficient for 4mm rods) on a regular 13A power supply.
GYS is also equipping machines with Flexible Voltage technology. GYS FV machines can operate at any voltage in the range 85-265V and are suitable for 110V applications and whenever there is a likelihood of variations in voltage.
