To combat problems associated with
using a box containing microswitches,
ifm electronic came up with the idea
of two inductive sensors in one body
that just sits on the actuator. Remote
feedback of valve position is further
simplified with the IN5409, a new
version of the IND valve sensor from
the company. The new unit is said to
be even more robust than its
predecessors and is designed for easy
connection.
The terminal chamber at the back is reached by loosening two captive screws at the rear of the unit, next to the twin glanded entries. The cable glands themselves are dimensioned to allow the attachment of steel armoured cable, as often required with such installations.
