Based near Burton on Trent, LH Group Services re-manufactures in excess of 6000 power train products each year. It is helped in this task by Testo monitoring technology.

This is used when the company overhauls rafts of diesel transmission units (DMUs). The Testo T176-T4 channel temperature data logger offers 4 channel temperature monitoring with external sensor connections, a robust design for impact protection, parallel temperature measurement capability at up to four sites and a single, onebutton menu navigation and large memory.

An example of the system in action occurs when the rafts are checked on test beds. Data can be downloaded for extra information via the Testo logger at the post-test stage. When the unit has been returned to the customer, LH Group Services is able to monitor the state of important functions to give early warning of problems. Typically, cooling performance is checked by monitoring the temperatures of the coolant both in an out of the engine to see whether the cooling system is working as it should be.
