Dampney's Agri Environmental is
waste sewage contractor for Wessex
Water. To increase efficiency and
traceability, it has invested in a GPRS
data connection system to transfer
truck load data from an RDS
Loadmaster 8000i onboard weighing
system to its central office via internet.
After sewage has been dried, Dampney's distributes the solid sludge 'cake' to farmers for use as a cheap fertiliser. To enhance data collection efficiency and to cut the drivers' need to return paperwork to the main office, a GPRS data connection system, supplied by CC Software, transfers load data from the weighing systems in the roll-on/ roll-off skips to the company's office.
Skips are loaded at the treatment plant and weighed as the container is mounted on to the truck. Data is sent through a modem under the dashboard to the office via mobile GPRS signal.Web access is only needed at the office, so data can be transferred from the cab in real time to anywhere in the world where there is a mobile signal. This costs about £3/month per unit, dependent upon frequency and amount of data.
