Dampney's Agri Environmental based outside Bournemouth has sites across the West Country and is waste sewage contractor for Wessex Water. To increase the efficiency and traceability of its operations, Dampney's has invested in a GPRS data connection system to transfer truck load data from the RDS Loadmaster 8000i onboard weighing system to the central office via the mobile internet.

After sewage has gone through an on-site drying process, Dampney's distributes the remaining solid sludge product known as 'cake' from the local treatment plants to farmers who have purchased it in advance from Wessex Water as a cheap, effective fertiliser.

The GPRS data connection system, supplied by CC Software, transfers load data from the weighing systems in the roll-on/roll-off skips to the company's office.

Skips are loaded at the treatment plant and weighed as the container is mounted to the truck. On completion of the weighing cycle, data is sent automatically through a modem under the dashboard to the central office via mobile GPRS signal.Web access is only needed at the central office, so data can be transferred in real time from the cab to anywhere in the country or indeed the world.
