When the UK arm of Thetford's moved to a new manufacturing and warehousing facility in Rotherham, three Aisle-Master articulated forklifts were chosen to replace counterbalance and reach trucks.

SHE coordinator Dean Howson, says: "Although we have an increased footprint of around 10,000ft2, the 3 to 4m aisle-widths needed for our old trucks would have swallowed this up leaving no extra capacity." With minimal interruption to operations, Thetford took delivery of the electric powered 2t capacity AM20 SHE models. Aisle-widths are narrower than previously, giving 842 pallet spaces. Diverse load sizes require bespoke storage and loading solutions, for example metal cages to protect glass hobs.

One of the Aisle-Masters has been fitted with double deep forks (2050mm when extended) to enable awkward packs and stillages to be loaded across the truck bed.

The forklifts pick to top bays of 6m, but with lift heights of 7.25m they can cope should requirements change.
