The British Occupational Hygiene
Society (BOHS), in conjunction
with the HSE, will be running
asbestos roadshow events in June
2013, to reflect important changes
and developments in the industry.
The presentations will start in Glasgow on 4th June, moving to Manchester, Birmingham and London, and concluding on 12th June in Cardiff. An exhibition will run alongside the presentations.
Key areas of focus will be the latest developments in the control of risks from asbestos in the workplace.
Dr Martin Gibson, occupational hygiene specialist at the HSE, will present details of the proposed changes to 'Asbestos, the Analysts Guide' (HSG 248). This guidance is used by all those who need to commission, manage or carry out asbestos sampling and analysis, from bulk and air sampling to clearing asbestos enclosures after asbestos removal works.
A second key change to HSE asbestos guidance in 2013 will be the launch of the revised Approved Code of Practice and guidance to the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012 (L143) on which delegates will be updated.
