Momentum builds for new facilities event
22 January 2014
Aimed at facilities, property and estate managers, easyFairs first ever Facilities Management event takes place from 11 to 13 March at the NEC, Birmingham, and comprises an exhibition accompanied by a educational programme covering some of the sector's hot topics
Exhibitors at Facilities Management 2014 include Bell Plastics, Florprotec, MobileWorxs, Fireco and Lex Autolease. Many are using the opportunity to launch new products. For instance fire safety provider, Fireco will be showing its latest Easydor. This eco-friendly, wire-free, door operator makes it easier for wheelchair users to open doors.
Enterprise mobility solutions provider, MobileWorxs will be showcasing a number of pre-built applications and solutions that allow organisations to bridge the gap between office and the field. The company will show how it is possible to eliminate paper-based processes and provide mobile workers with all they require to efficiently carry out their tasks.
The British Pest Control Association which represents the public health pest control sector and has over 500 members will host a dedicated area at Facilities Management.
Educational Programme
Facilities Management will feature a special programme of content-rich seminars called The Exchange. The 21 free talks will be packed with advice, new innovations and case studies. For instance FM professionals tasked with reducing costs will want to hear Nick Butlin, operations director at KiWi Power, outline how money can be made from a company’s electrical demand. Butlin will explain how demand response programmes work and the financial and environmental benefits they offer.
Gary Watkins, software expert and managing director at Service Works will describe a no-nonsense approach to buying a Computer Aided Facilities Management (CAFM) software system. This will include how to write a business case document for a CAFM investment and what facts and figures should be included to win over the financial director.
Sylvaine Smith, director of field mobility at Motorola Solutions will outline what a mobility solution is, what it can bring to an organisation, how to choose the best option and implement it, while Andrew Shaw, managing director at Business Services Growth, will explain why service providers and FM clients should work more closely together.
Few would argue that the way people work – and therefore working environments – have changed enormously, and in ways that were hard to predict. Workplace design expert, Oliver Baxter from Herman Miller, will discuss how scenario planning helps companies understand and anticipate how the workplace could change.
Running in conjunction with The Exchange will be FM Matters where experts from some of the biggest names in industry including Norland, Servicebrand Global and Interserve FM will debate the critical facilities management topics.
Lions’ Lair
Attendees eager to see the latest innovations in action should check out Lions’ Lair which will be run on the show floor. This contest will see the event’s newest technologies, innovations and concepts pitched to an expert panel in a bid to find the best in show.
Co-locations
Facilities Management is co-located with Maintec, an event now it its 39th year which focuses on the needs of maintenance, plant and asset management professionals. It is also running alongside a new Health and Safety Event which has a free conference programme provided by The British Safety Council.
