Inspecting the 'uninspectable'

18 March 2014

IRISS is marking its first appearance at Plant and Asset Management with new products designed to assure uninterrupted production without endangering personnel.

Known in the UK for its polymer infrared windows, IRISS is now extending the scope of its business to include a range of electrical maintenance safety devices (EMSDs). These products allow the inspection of a live electrical system to provide condition monitoring data while the enclosure remains closed. This way all triggers for arc flash are removed, inspections require less manpower and lower PPE levels.

New to the IRISS EMSD range in the UK is the IRISS FlexIR system for isophase bus. A large format infrared and visual inspection window, it has been designed for the power generation and large power user market. The window also acts as an access port for repairs as it can be easily removed to allow the engineer to repair the fault.

Naturally IRISS will also be highlighting its unique thermal imaging windows that are shatterproof and therefore optimally suited to the industrial environment.  As they are polymer they can be any shape or size to suit the application.  Both standard and custom versions can be supplied in opaque or clear Platinum that allows inspection in the visual and all three infrared spectrums.  All IRISS windows carry a lifetime warranty.
