Preventing lost production
02 June 2014
When one of the UK’s largest nuclear power stations started losing supply of its process cooling water a call went out immediately to chiller hire specialist Andrews Chiller Hire.
Despite it being a Sunday afternoon, engineers at the company were able to set about providing a temporary solution which was in place within 12 hours, saving the power station potential losses that could have amounted to many thousands of pounds.
Within the given time frame Andrews Chiller Hire had discussed specific issues with the site’s engineers, modified a standard chiller, including supply of a recirculating pump set on the flow-side of the system, and all associate pipe-runs.
Such was the efficiency of this time-critical solution, which bypassed the fixed chillers and pumps and was commissioned successfully, it ensured that the nuclear plant lost no production.
