Chillers for data centre contract
28 June 2016
Andrews Chiller Hire has been awarded a short-term contract by a telecommunications provider to supply 1.4MW of cooling as back-up for in-house chillers that will be taken off-line during a refurbishing programme.

Andrews Chiller Hire will supply two 750kW chillers that will run in series for direct connection to existing flow and return connections. Andrews also will be suppling power generation equipment to establish a totally stand-alone system, ensuring adequate and essential cooling to critical operational suites housing advanced computerised technology.
The company has one of the most comprehensive chiller hire fleets in the UK, with units from 6 to 750kW and air-handlers capable of delivering up to 600kW.
Site surveys are part of the normal hire process, identifying loading requirements as well as any other site requirements. Installation at the tele-comms site had restricted footprint, this meant Andrews chillers would be placed end-to-end and cable ramping used to run to the generator. During installation engineers had to ensure that the client had full access to the data centre for the duration of hire.
