Sawmill selects second strapping solution

08 May 2014

UK sawmill A&J Scott has installed a second Mosca strapping machine as part of an investment in a new production line to meet growing demand for its products.

The Mosca KOF-611 is a semi-automatic model that has an optional manual baton inserter and SoniXs sealing head.

The sealing head uses sonic technology to create the seal between the two ends of strap. The head can be used with either PET or PP strap and offers a seal that is said to be stronger and more resistant to tearing than traditional friction seals. It reduces sealing time and as no heating time is required, strapping speed is said to be increased by 50%. There are neither fumes nor smells produced and no residue build up due to melting strap.

The manual baton inserter provides an effective spacer between the packs.  It is inserted underneath each pack prior to strapping and this enables a stacker truck to get underneath the packs for efficient stacking. In addition, the KOF-611 features variable strap tension and has an adjustable working height.

A&J Scott already has a Mosca ROMP-5 stand-alone strapping machine and the high levels of customer service and support provided by Mosca were instrumental in the company selecting the KOF-611 to support its further business growth.

Robert Scott, MD, says he is very happy with the machine which is running with, 'no problems at all'.  Mosca’s team of specialist engineers ensured that any minor hitches during installation were quickly resolved.
