XYZ keeps it simple

16 September 2014

XYZ Machine Tools will be filling its stand with a cross-section of its machine tool range, that includes ProtoTRAK controlled turret and bed mills and SLX ProTURN lathes, through to full CNC machining centres and turning centres and the XYZ 2-OP portable vertical machining centre.

XYZ Machine Tools will demonstrate the ability and simplicity of the ProtoTRAK control system on an XYZ SMX 3500 bed mill and an XYZ ProTURN  SLX 355 lathe. The control system is suitable for one-off and small batch quantities and even without any knowledge of CNC, the company says operators will be producing parts within a day. The machines feature robust construction, including solid Meehanite castings, Turcite-B coated bedways on the mills, and extra wide vee and flat bedways on the SLX lathes.

Visitors will also be able to view the XYZ 2-OP portable vertical machining centre which has a footprint of just 1220 by 760mm and weighs just 1100kg. By having a portable VMC capable of carrying out simple operations one operator can add significant spindle run time to any business.

The XYZ 2-OP allows cellular manufacturing to be achieved anywhere in a factory by moving the machine to the work, not the other way around, delivering the advantages of cellular manufacturing to maximise the existing labour, increase productivity, and dramatically reduce manufacturing costs.
