Helmet upgrade
26 January 2015
A cape and helmet liner are two additions from Hodge Clemco to its protective equipment for blast equipment operators.
The cape is designed to fit to the company’s Apollo 600 helmet to provide a high degree of protection when harnesses or life jackets are worn. It allows access to the harness while still protecting the upper body and maintaining an airtight seal in the neck area.
A DLX liner kit can also be fitted to the helmet to ensure the cape fits snugly to the operator’s face and eliminates movement from incorrectly adjusted head harnesses. It allows the wearer to inspect harness attachments without reducing protection.
Optimum protection is provided by wearing the cape with Hodge Clemco’s flame-retardant blast suit, which is approved for wet and dry blasting, allowing it to be used at petrochemical sites, on and off-shore, and for applications where the operator works in a zoned environment. The suit is manufactured from military-grade flexible outer fabric fully lined with a breathable inner material.
The Apollo helmet provides a high degree of protection and good visibility while also being comfortable and convenient to wear. The internal air-flow is quiet, and an internal drop-down tab gives clear warning of reduced air pressure.
