Opening new doors on the future

13 November 2015

More than 100 staff, contributors and local supporters turned out recently to celebrate the launch of Samuel Grant Packaging’s new warehouse on the Leeds City Enterprise Zone.

Staff past and present guided visitors through tours of the new facility, which showcased memorabilia from the company’s 124 year history.

After the official opening ribbon was cut by the next generation of Grants, eight year old Fraser Grant gave a speech, mentioning his great great grandfather, Samuel Grant, who started the business in 1891.

The company’s purpose-built facility has 50,000ft2 of warehousing space and will allow the company to continue to expand its offering. The 10 metre high racking allows more to be held in stock, and more products for clients can be stored and ordered as required, as opposed to taking up valuable space in their own warehouses.

The owners and managers, Andrew & Matthew Grant, are behind this vision to expand, which culminates in the company’s 125 year anniversary in 2016. The investment will allow the company to develop key areas of business and to continue to be at the forefront of providing innovative packaging solutions.

"It was a fabulous occasion, and great that so many of our past and present staff were able to mingle with those who have driven this project and enabled the continued growth of our business,” said Matthew Grant, Joint MD. "Fortunately the sun shone when it needed to as well!”

Leeds City Council executive member for regeneration, transport and planning councillor Richard Lewis said: "We are very pleased to see this new warehouse open in the Leeds City Region Enterprise Zone, which will help Samuel Grant Packaging grow and develop in the years to come, providing a boost to the local economy and creating new jobs.”

The growing Trade Counter will be part of a new Innovation Centre, which will profile the latest products and technology, as well as conducting regular machine demonstrations.
