Taking a new turn at Southern Manufacturing
25 January 2018
Guhring's 104, 106 and 305 Systems for turning, grooving, thread cutting and slotting have been extended and can be seen for the first time in the UK at Southern Manufacturing. The company will be showing its extended turning lines, thread-forming series and the latest RF100 Diver milling range.

The extensions to the small part boring and internal turning 104 Series will now see the arrival of additional ER collet variants. Furthermore, Guhring is adding an imperial dimension range to its metric portfolio. This will include the standard programme with machine-specific properties for sliding head centres such as Star, Tornos and Citizen machine tools. For specialised clamping configurations, Guhring has now extended the 104 range to incorporate polygon and HSK-T tool shanks, as well as new square shank designs that can be plugged-in to enhance flexibility.
Complementing the enhanced 104 Series is the expanded 106 System. Enhancements include toolholding extensions that correspond with the new additions to the 104 Series. There is also an improved range of robust inserts for turning and roll forming with a depth of cut up to 2mm. This will improve productivity, surface finishes and tool life whilst reducing cycle times for end users. Guhring has also added inserts to the 106 System for complete profile threading up to M12. Many designs are available in up to seven different neck lengths and five different corner radii.
Guhring has also built-upon the success of the 305 System with extensive product additions launched at EMO. Bringing the developments to the UK, the company is introducing smaller 10 x 10mm toolholder shanks for small and compact turning centres and platen tooling configured machines. The 305 System is now also offered with a variety of imperial dimensions as well as the existing and metric toolholder and insert lines.
Guhring has also extended the insert line for the 305 range with the addition of 12mm inserts and a wider insert seat for more robust and sturdy turning operations on small turning centres. It has also added a selection of 3-edged inserts to the series for thread turning applications. For high productivity turning, Guhring has also developed a complete line of sintered chip formers for enhanced swarf removal and chip breaking on challenging materials. Stand H185
