Twisting pasta to floor level

02 July 2018

When a pasta maker from Italy wanted to maximise line efficiency and bring two separate product streams down to the next part of the line one of the problems was that both streams had to come down on a very limited amount of space, which ruled out installing a separate machine for each stream.

AmbaFlex engineers aim to come up with a suitable solution for every customer. In a standard situation, where both streams come together before entering the spiral, a single SpiralVeyor with two separately driven tracks would work flawlessly. However, in this layout the streams came in from multiple angles and heights, which meant a different solution was needed.

To connect to both the incoming and outgoing lines coming from different levels, engineers came up with a solution where they combined two SpiralVeyors onto one column, essentially nesting them. Each with its own in- and out-feed positions. The two nested spirals can pick up both streams and bring them down, taking the same amount of floor space as one regular spiral.
