UPM - Another successful bespoke project with Lenham Storage

26 June 2020

UPM Conveyors has been working with Lenham Storage in Maidstone for a second time on a bespoke product handling system.

Lenham Storage specialises in nationwide storage, FMCG storage and distribution. It serves manufacturers, importers and distributors and has recently had a multi-million pound investment in new facilities for co-packing.

Product flow design for a co-packing operation

UPM Conveyors worked with Lenham Storage some years previously, installing a belt conveyor system. This has been successful and operated trouble free 24/7. Lenham’s director Ian Rose invited the team back to submit plans for a product flow design to incorporate all aspects of the co-packing operation.

After much close liaising between Ian and the UPM design engineers using 3D modelling software, the prototype was happily accepted. Installation was completed towards the end of 2019, on schedule.

Benefits:
The system is said to have delivered unprecedented levels of:

  • Speed
  • Flexibility
  • Efficiency

Combined, these benefits have helped to improve general workplace practises. Ian Rose has been very pleased and has invited UPM Conveyors back to design another product handling system to interface with an automatic box erector and shrink wrapper, in conjunction with the existing labelling and coding operations. This will cater for the increase in the variable volumes of diverse products, with ever shorter end to end cycle times.

All UPM Conveyors' equipment is manufactured and tested to UK standards and to all health and safety CE requirements. With full in house project management available, it ensures design, installation and commissioning run as smoothly as possible whilst delivering high quality solutions.
