Energy efficient evaporative cooling
26 March 2021
WHEN THE 170,000 square foot site of office furniture manufacturer, Herman Miller, overheated and caused staff fatigue during the summer months, the company turned to EcoCooling for an energy efficient solution.

EcoCooling recommended nine roof-mounted evaporative coolers with associated extract, which allows independent temperature control of different zones. The system can provide over 300kW of cooling and uses less than 10kW of electricity to create comfortable working conditions in each area. The estimated running costs are approximately £3.15 per hour for both supply and extraction, which works out about 90% less than the running cost of a traditional air conditioning system
Martin Waller, head of engineering & quality – EMEA at Herman Miller commented: “The major benefit of this new ventilation is the improvement in the working environment for the operations team, due to the zonal control of ventilation and cooling. In addition, there will be a reduction in electricity consumption."
In addition to creating comfortable working conditions for its workforce, the company have gained a ventilation based air cooling system which can help with managing the spread of COVID 19 during these difficult times.
