Certified online Profibus and Profinet training

Control Specialists Ltd (CSL), a PI-accredited Training Center (PITC), will be offering the full range of PI-certified training courses in an online format. This is fully supported by the Profibus User Organisation (PNO) and PI UK and offers an alternative to the conventional face-to-face / site-based certified training that the company has been delivering for several years.

Profibus (sometimes PROFIBUS) is a standard for fieldbus communication in automation technology. Profibus is openly published as part of IEC 61158. Profinet (sometimes PROFINET) is a standard for industrial ethernet communication for data collection and equipment control in industrial standards. Profinet  is openly part of IEC 61784-2, defining protocols for Industry 4.0 and smart manufacturing.

From January 2022, CSL will start to offer the following training courses, and their associated examinations, online:

Certified PROFIBUS Installer
Certified PROFIBUS Engineer 
Certified PROFIBUS System Designer
Certified PROFINET Installer
Certified PROFINET Engineer 

The first days of the Profinet and Profibus Engineer courses are also offered as non-certified commissioning and maintenance courses for those who want a basic understanding of auditing and fault-finding on these networks.

The trainer, Peter Thomas of CSL, is the chairman of the PI Training Centre working group and led the online certification working group to ensure that the quality of the PI-certification process is maintained globally when delivering the certified training in this new format.
