Certified Profibus and Profinet training

29 July 2019

The PROFIBUS UK Group supports training courses run by Manchester Metropolitan University (MMU), Verwer Training & Consultancy Ltd (VTC) and Control Specialist (CSL).

All three organisations are PI Training Centres (PITCs), authorised by PROFIBUS & PROFINET International (PI) to deliver PI's certified courses leading to internationally-recognised accreditation as Certified PROFIBUS or PROFINET Engineers or Installers.

PROFINET training courses:

Certified PROFINET Installer

An essential course for electrical engineers and technicians needing to upgrade their skills to include industrial Ethernet installation. This one-day, hands-on course teaches the design, installation and testing of complete PROFINET networks and will teach delegates how to avoid common, but potentially expensive, installation problems.

PROFINET Commissioning & Maintenance

The one-day PROFINET Commissioning and Maintenance course provides an intermediate level of training for technicians and engineers who are involved with commissioning, health checking and fault finding on operational PROFINET systems.

Nov, Location: Manchester, Provider: MMU

Certified PROFINET Engineer

This training course provides a detailed technical knowledge of PROFINET technology and the advantages it offers your automation and production processes. At the end of the training, there will be a theory exam. Participants who pass get the title Certified PROFINET Engineer and are awarded an official certificate. Successful participants will have the confidence to evaluate PROFINET as a solution for their automation requirements and be able to design a proper application.

PROFIBUS training courses:

Certified PROFIBUS Installer

An essential course for electrical engineers and technicians needing to upgrade their skills to include Fieldbus installation. This one-day, hands-on course teaches the design, installation and testing of complete PROFIBUS networks including DP, PA and optical fibre technology. Covering bus layout and termination, grounding rules and practices, the course will teach delegates how to avoid common, but potentially expensive, installation problems.

PROFIBUS Commissioning & Maintenance Course

A one-day course designed as an add-on to the Certified PROFIBUS Installer Course, covering the practical techniques of faultfinding on "operational" PROFIBUS networks. Techniques taught in the course include the use of a modern PROFIBUS analyser, Class 1 and Class 2 master functions (engineering tool) to diagnose network faults, device faults and I/O problems. Students also learn how to diagnose and accurately locate cable, connection and device faults.

Certified PROFIBUS System Designer

This course is aimed at anyone who is dealing with the design,
specification or procurement of modern automation and control systems at the engineering or technical level. The course is also suitable for device manufacturers, system integrators and technical sales/marketing people who want to know the best way to put systems together. The course is aimed at the professional engineer level and a basic familiarity with control system terminology and the ability to perform simple engineering calculations are assumed.

Certified PROFIBUS Engineer Course

This is an in-depth course covering PROFIBUS DP and PA network operation, design, commissioning and live fault-finding. The course covers basic cyclic data exchange (so-called DP-V0) and DP-V1 extensions that are used in PA devices and more complex DP devices. Most of the course is involved with understanding and interpreting the various telegrams that pass between devices. It is a world-wide recognised training program, standardised by PROFIBUS International. The Certified PROFIBUS Installer and the Commissioning & Maintenance courses are essential pre-requisites for attending this course.
