With a front diameter of only 1mm,
the new Type 6188A combined
temperature and pressure sensor is
described by Kistler Instruments as
another milestone in miniaturisation
of sensors. Designed primarily for
precision monitoring of melt
temperature and cavity pressure in
injection moulding, the sensor is
expected to find many other
applications in manufacturing, R&D.
As with Kistler's other combined sensors, the Type K thermocouple is mounted at the front of the sensor to provide rapid response to temperature changes. Connecting wires to the thermocouple are threaded through the pressure sensor elements, which share the front face of the sensor.
The new sensor allows the injection moulding process to be monitored to provide high-level quality assurance and zero rejects, especially when small or precision products are being produced.
