Aiming to lower
decibel levels, reduce
cycle times and cut
energy
consumption, Pukka
Pies has replaced
pneumatically
operated air pumps
with MasoSine SPS
2.5 pumps from the
Watson-Marlow
Pumps Group to
transfer meat fillings
at its Leicestershire
HQ from where more
than 60 million pies
are produced every year.
The Watson Marlow MasoSine positive displacement pump, model SPS 2.5, is suitable for high pressure, hygienic operations in sectors such as food manufacture. Its sinusoidal rotor produces powerful suction with low shear, low pulsation and gentle handling.
The process of transferring meat to the top level depositor feed hopper is controlled by Pukka Pies' own VSD system. In combination with the easilyintegrated SPS series pump, the new system is delivering 20% faster pumping times and noise has been reduced from 94 to 74 decibels peak.
Compressed air use too has been cut significantly.
