AFI supplied its SanctuaryZone antientrapment device, together with powered access units, to ensure the safety of contractors erecting steelwork for a new school under construction in Basildon, Essex.

PDF Services hired two 16m Haulotte boom lifts from AFI fitted with the SanctuaryZone antientrapment device and also purchased two further SanctuaryZones to fit onto its own Genie booms for work at the Woodlands School in Basildon.

Paul Frampton, managing director of PDF Services, said: "The main contractors stipulated that an antientrapment device should always be used on site when working at height and we opted for SanctuaryZone. It worked well on the contract." Available under the WorkZone range of safety and security products, SanctuaryZone is the only Tier 1 system that will fit most manufacturers' machines, says the company. AFI is convinced the product will save lives and has made it available to competitors.
