Proximity sensors: Performance boost

03 December 2015

Longer range, improved all-round performance and lower prices are just some of the benefits claimed by ifm electronic for its new range of inductive proximity sensors.

The range features standard M12, M18 and M30 housings with sensing ranges of 10mm, 15mm and 30mm respectively, regardless of the metal being detected. There is no reduction factor. All versions, flush and non-flush, are available in two lengths.

Operating temperature range is between -40 and +85°C and ingress protection from IP65 to IP69K. Units are immune to strong electrical fields; some are suitably coated to resist weld spatter.

While sensors with the same correction factor for all metals have formed an integral part of the ifm electronic range for many years, the additional features of the new range enhance performance at more attractive prices than ifm could previously offer.
