Addition to bonding range

29 June 2016

A low-viscosity, transparent adhesive has been introduced for polycarbonate, plastic, glass and metal bonding.

Easily integrated in automated production lines, Vitralit UV 4050 LV adhesive has been developed by German manufacturer Panacol and is being launched into the UK market by Techsil. This new adhesive has ultra low viscosity so can be used for very tight bond gaps. It is said to provide excellent adhesion to most plastics such as PC, PVC, PS, ABS, SAN, and bonds well to glass. In addition this is also a strong metal glue that adheres well to metal substrates such as stainless steel, steel or aluminum.

If at least one assembly material is transparent, Vitralit UV 4050 LV will cure quickly to produce a strong, reliable bond. The ability to cure with visible light (>400nm) means that it permits the bonding of materials that block ultraviolet light such as polycarbonate.

Vitralit UV 4050 LV is currently being tested according to USP Class VI and DIN ISO 10993-4/-5 standards for use in medical applications by medical equipment manufacturers.

This fast curing adhesive resin cures in seconds with UV-A and visible light. Both gas discharge lamps and LED lights are suitable to be used as curing lamps. High intensity gallium doped gas discharge lamps produce excellent curing results.
