Training for future manufacturing leaders

EEF, the manufacturers’ organisation has launched a new leadership and development programme to help companies train the future manufacturing leaders to keep the UK at the forefront of the fourth industrial revolution. 

With the increasing demand for skills in manufacturing and the significant leadership gap impacting on the productivity of many businesses, the new management and skills development programme, ‘Make Great’ is aimed at helping businesses recruit, retain and develop the right skills to address the digital revolution ahead.

According to EEF research, the need to improve productivity has led to almost two thirds of manufacturers increasing demand for people management, whilst a similar number are looking for increased leadership skills. Companies reported that their efforts on workforce skills development is having a significant and positive impact on company productivity.

There are four key areas of expertise available to companies under the ‘make Great’ programme which includes qualifications and courses at all levels from the Institute for Leadership Management and Chartered Management Institute: Retaining and recruiting talent, Coaching and mentoring, People performance & skills management, and Strategic change management and restructuring.
