Productivity boost for proof machining
30 March 2022
WHEN SUPPLIER of continuous and centrifugal cast products, DYN-Metal, wanted improve productivity in its proof machining department, the company turned to XYZ Machine Tools.

The solution came in the form of two lathes - an XYZ ProTURN RLX 555 with a 1.75m bed length and, the largest machine in the ProTURN range an XYZ ProTURN RLX 780 with a 3m bed length and swing of 780mm over the bed, which were installed towards the end of 2021.
Both machines feature the latest RX ProtoTRAK control system with its touchscreen interface and innovative conversational programming capabilities. One key feature of the control that was welcomed by DYN Metal was the TRAKing capability of the control; this allows the operator to use the electronic handwheels to prove out the program, winding the wheels will move the tool along the programmed path at whatever speed the operator is comfortable with. Once happy they can revert to full CNC mode at the push of a button.
