Trane Expands Cold Store Rental Fleet with New Models, Enhanced Features and Power Options

14 April 2025

TRANE, A leading global provider of indoor climate control solutions and a brand of Trane Technologies, announced the expansion of its rental fleet of container Cold Store units across Europe, Middle East, Africa, Australia and New Zealand, introducing new models, features and power solutions.

The growing Trane rental fleet of Cold Store units now include compact L-STORE temperature-controlled containers, modular M-STORE units and new power options like generator sets, stationary battery packs and solar panels. Trane's cold store rental fleet addresses the growing demand for temporary temperature-controlled storage in events, food and beverage, pharmaceutical, warehousing and other applications.

"By leveraging synergies within Trane Technologies, we can deliver the latest in efficient and low-noise technology, supported by the largest service and distribution network across the EMEA region. Trane’s short- and long-term cold storage rental solutions exemplify a seamless integration of Thermo King’s industry-leading refrigeration technology and Trane’s extensive service network and turn-key expertise," said Louis Rompre, services business leader at Trane EMEA. "Offering a comprehensive range of cooling, heating, cold storage and stationary power solutions products, Trane is uniquely positioned to meet the diverse and evolving rental needs of our customers, ensuring we meet all their energy efficiency, temperature control, and sustainable energy management requirements."

Trane Cold Store Container Sizes and Options

The new, compact Trane L-STORE units, leveraging technology from Thermo King and carefully engineered by airside experts AL-KO Airtech, come in a 7-foot size and complement the range of cold store containers available in 10ft, 20ft, and 40ft lengths. All containers leverage Thermo King refrigeration units to deliver consistent performance for fresh, frozen or ultra-low temperature storage.

Trane containers are equipped with features such as wash-down drains, man-trap alarms, interior lighting, and emergency escape releases, making them ideal for static storage. Customers can customize their temperature-controlled containers with options such as telematics and remote monitoring and controlled atmosphere.

Trane M-STORE modular configurations allow for multiple container units to be joined together without extensive engineering or large upfront costs. These modules can be used as temporary refrigerated warehouses that adapt easily to fluctuating demand and supply, without the need for lengthy planning permission processes or groundworks.

The construction of modular cold stores reduces business interruptions and typically take days, whereas construction of conventional cold storage buildings can take months and occupy large areas for materials and machinery. This minimizes disruption, allowing the customer's production processes to continue uninterrupted. The flexibility of modular Cold Stores allows for scalability and adaptability to changing needs, as they can be easily reconfigured or expanded to accommodate future growth or modifications in storage requirements.

Trane Power Solutions: Gensets, Battery Packs and Solar Panels

To maintain the cold chain integrity, Trane now also offers rental of different stationary power solutions compatible with refrigerated containers that can provide a stable power supply during outages or peak periods. This includes battery packs, clip-on gensets and solar panels.

The Trane rental battery packs are available in flexible configurations ranging from 35kWh to 175kWh, offering a sustainable alternative to diesel gensets. Their compact dimensions include all power electronics, controls, and battery modules inside the same frame.
