AxFlow says it is assisting companies within the UK chemical processing industries to reduce energy costs and improve efficiency in fluid transfer applications by introducing them to the benefits of the Blackmer ProVane motor speed pump.

The pump has a hydrodynamic journal bearing that reduces shaft to bearing contact and minimises friction. This in turn boosts mechanical efficiency and energy savings. When in operation the hydrodynamic journal bearing, described by AxFlow as a fluid boundary forming principal, eliminates contact between the shaft and the bearing in the pump by hydroplaning above the bearing surface on a cushion of liquid. In this hydrodynamic condition metalmetal contact or wear is eliminated so bearing life becomes indefinite.

Suitable for shear-sensitive liquids, the pump delivers a consistent volumetric output to ensure quality blending. Efficient suction and selfpriming capabilities mean it can move fluids from storage tanks to mixers at a higher level in the plant.
