A global healthcare company is saving £36,000 a year in energy costs since installing Thermal Energy International's GEM steam traps at one of its sites. A total of 85 steam traps have been installed at the process plant, achieving a 20% energy saving in 18 months.

A survey of the site's former mechanical traps revealed that about 20% of them were failing open resulting in 7568t of steam being lost each year. The GEM steam traps that replaced them have no moving parts to wedge open. They use the venturi orifice design to effectively drain condensate from the steam system.
