Baler benefits

05 August 2015

After meeting Compact & Bale at an exhibition and seeing the Strautmann AutoLoadBaler on the stand, Ian Doye, MD of Cannon Packing and Logistics, wanted to re-evaluate the company's waste management process so that staff could spend more time on core business.

Compact & Bale conducted a thorough waste audit which found that the company's vertical baler was too labour intensive. Compact & Bale’s solution was to reduce waste handling costs by installing a Strautmann AutoLoadBaler, which is said to have a small footprint and lower cost than a horizontal semi-automatic baler.

Greg Alder, director at Cannon Packing and Logistics, says: "The AutoLoadBaler has really helped streamline our operation. It has saved us 15 man-hours per week since it was installed, which will mean 800h and £8000 saved per year. It will have achieved payback in two years – we are very happy."

Another innovative machine in the Strautmann ‘Automate to Save’ range is the BaleTainer which is a fully automatic baling press which compacts paper, cardboard packaging, film and empty PET bottles.

With its large infeed hopper, the BaleTainer allows high volumes of bulky materials to be fed in directly, without having to be broken down. The machine’s special pre crush/shred roller is particularly effective when handling large flat packed sheets of cardboard, cardboard pallets and octa-bins that would bridge and jam a standard machine.

With a 60t pressing force the BaleTainer produces uniform mill size bales typically weighing 450kg. Stand H92
