Award-winning chuck
15 December 2016
At this year's AMB exhibition, the newly developed intelligent Toplus IQ forage from Hainbuch received the Innovation Award for workpiece clamping.

On winning the award, the judging panel paid tribute to Hainbuch and the engineering performance of the Marbach family business. The Toplus IQ was convincing in all decision-making criteria, including the degree of technological innovation, the benefits for industry, the environment and society, and profitability.
Gerhard Rall, MD, says: "Innovation is when the customer says 'wow'. Obviously, we have done this with the judges as well. In the past, we were roughly speaking about steel and iron, but today, mechatronics and digitisation play a very important role in product development."
With its sophisticated integrated sensor technology on the workpiece, the measurement data is passed directly to the machine control via the non-contact data and energy transmission. A set-point adjustment is carried out by the control unit and, if necessary, messages for the output or even corrections can be initiated. Even an in-line workpiece measurement, directly at every voltage, is possible by an integrated measuring sensor system. The temperature close to the work piece is also determined in order to allow temperature compensation.
The monitoring of the machine condition is the essential pre-requisite for a demand-oriented and condition-oriented maintenance. Modern condition monitoring systems have the highest demands on sensor technology, measurement data acquisition and automatic data processing as well as system-specific knowledge.
However, it also offers the greatest potential for cost savings as the service life of critical machine elements can be fully utilised and at the same time required repair measures can be terminated in accordance with the production plan. This makes it possible to avoid unnecessary downtime, increase machine availability and reduce deviations. This is also noticeable in the wallet, because the feed recognises reject parts, for example in the case of tool breakage. The system sorts them out and breaks the value added. This increases the quality and reduces personnel expenses. The employees thus have the chance to concentrate more on proactive measures. Furthermore, the permanent monitoring reduces the risk of workpiece losses resulting in damage to man and machine.
