UK welcomes Nakamura-Tone turning centre
27 January 2022
NAKAMURA-TONE's SC-100X2 twin-spindle, twin-turret turning centre has been developed as an advancement to its predecessor, the SC-100.
Now available from The Engineering Technology Group (ETG) is the new SC-100X2 high-performance turning centre from Nakamura-Tome. Nakamura has developed the new SC-100X2 twin-spindle twin-turret turning centre as an advancement upon its predecessor, the SC-100.
The company says high-speed, efficient one-hit turning as the machine's core competence, and claims the SC-100X2 is 41% faster than the previous SC-100. The new machine's sub-spindle X-axis and lower turret deliver greater flexibility and performance and Nakamura’s intelligent software NT Thermo Navigator AI and Smart Support allow for speedy and efficient programming. In addition, the standard X and Z-axis on the right-hand spindle enhance simultaneous machining through overlapping control between the left and right-hand spindles. The X and Z slide travel on the right-hand spindle is 150mm and 400mm respectively.
The 51mm bar capacity machine has a maximum turning capacity of 230mm diameter with a maximum turning length up to 400mm with the facility for a 6-inch chuck on both spindles. The SC-100X2 has an 11/7.5kW 6000rpm main spindle and a 7.5/5.5kW 6000rpm sub-spindle. Power and speed are complemented by a milling spindle that generates 7.1/2.2kW and the stability of its 6,500kg weight.
