ERIKS: Reliability is the key

26 August 2025

At this year’s IMSS, ERIKS will unveil a new tiered approach to reliability, helping manufacturers tackle unplanned downtime, optimise asset performance, and build long-term operational resilience

AT THIS year’s Industrial Maintenance Solutions Summit (IMSS) in Coventry, ERIKS will unveil the full scope of its new focus on reliability, a comprehensive, tiered approach designed to help manufacturers at every stage of their reliability journey. With a growing emphasis on reducing unplanned downtime, enhancing asset performance, and building operational resilience, ERIKS’ presence at IMSS will highlight how a smarter, more structured approach to maintenance can drive measurable change.

The company’s latest focus has been shaped by decades of engineering insight and frontline experience across sectors where reliability is not just a preference but a necessity. In manufacturing environments where delays and failures can halt production lines, spoil inventory or risk safety, the cost of inaction is high. The new reliability framework from ERIKS gives customers the tools to act earlier, plan smarter and operate with greater confidence.

Meeting manufacturers where they are

The headline message from ERIKS is that reliability isn’t a one-size-fits-all solution. Different plants and teams operate at very different stages of maturity when it comes to asset management. Some are just beginning to explore condition monitoring, while others are looking to integrate advanced predictive maintenance strategies into an already digitised operation.

That is why ERIKS has introduced a three-tiered structure to its reliability services, ensuring that every customer can engage in a way that suits their current capabilities, resources and ambitions.

The Standard level is designed for those taking their first steps. It is a simple, self-installed sensor solution that provides early warnings and anomaly notifications on critical or hard-to-reach assets. This entry-level service includes app-based access to live data and a five-year portal licence, offering a low-risk way for teams to begin capturing asset health insights.

For those ready to move beyond the basics, the Advanced level builds on this foundation with more sophisticated data collection and the integration of ERIKS’ award-winning Smart Asset Management (SAM) platform. With sensor data collected every few seconds and visualised via a smart dashboard, teams gain the ability to spot developing issues sooner and schedule interventions before failure occurs. Training is built into the package to support engineering teams as they take ownership of the platform and its capabilities.

At the top end of the scale, the Professional service is fully managed by ERIKS. For sites where uptime is critical and internal resources are stretched, this level provides continuous monitoring, system optimisation and direct access to ERIKS’ national network of technicians and engineering centres. Fault diagnosis, data analysis and recommended actions are all delivered as part of a proactive service designed to keep assets in peak condition.

Linking reliability with operational performance

ERIKS’ flexible model is already making a significant impact on the ground. At IMSS, the company will take to the presentation stage to share the story of a major UK food manufacturer that expanded its thinking from stores and supply chain optimisation to include the full reliability package.

What began as a project to streamline MRO procurement evolved into a strategic partnership that now includes asset monitoring, programme management and continuous improvement planning. With ERIKS managing everything from condition monitoring to stores integration, the customer was able to reduce annual downtime from 15% to just 4% within the first year! Maintenance became more targeted and effective, and unplanned stoppages were replaced by scheduled interventions based on real-time data.

The example highlights one of ERIKS’ core strengths: its ability to bring different parts of an industrial operation together into a cohesive, insight-driven strategy. By linking stores with reliability, and engineering data with supply chain planning, ERIKS helps customers turn isolated services into integrated solutions.

Powering foresight with insight

At the heart of ERIKS’ offer is the Strategic Asset Management (SAM) platform, a powerful cloud-based tool that gives engineering teams a real-time view of their assets’ condition. Data is collected via a flexible sensor network and analysed using smart algorithms that produce clear, actionable insights.

Users can see immediately where their problems lie, using colour-coded condition scores and a digital asset register to track trends over time. For more advanced users, deeper analytics and exportable reports are available to inform wider maintenance strategies and performance benchmarking.

The result is not just improved data, but improved decision-making. Maintenance teams are no longer reacting to failure. They are predicting it and preventing it.

A strategic shift in maintenance thinking

Pamela Bingham, CEO of ERIKS UK and Ireland, has described the shift towards reliability as a change in mindset as much as a methodology. "The Reliability Journey reflects a change in how industry approaches maintenance," she explains. "It’s about embedding reliability into day-to-day operations, not just when something breaks. And it's about doing so in a way that’s scalable, measurable and sustainable."

This approach also supports broader business objectives. Equipment that performs consistently and predictably uses less energy, requires fewer spare parts, and enables more efficient use of resources. For manufacturers looking to balance environmental goals with operational performance, reliability becomes a crucial enabler.

Building trust through proven expertise

For those attending IMSS, the ERIKS presentation session will offer a valuable opportunity to explore how these ideas translate into results. The talk will share practical examples, real performance data and lessons from ERIKS’ recent projects with UK manufacturers.

In a year where reliability is rapidly moving up the agenda for operations teams, ERIKS arrives at IMSS not just with a new product, but with a clear vision for how industry can work better.
