The Adelphi Building, WC2, is one of London's most iconic landmarks.

A little after a year ago, work began on the phased refurbishment of the building's chilled water system that serves several floors of office accommodation.

A major component of this project centred on the replacement of 20 year old fan coil units on the 7th floor by 148 modern Ability Projects ceiling recessed 4-pipe 'Trojan' fan coil units with capacities between 0.5 to 2kW (cooling) and 1 to 3kW (heating), supplied with Ability fitted Trend BMS controls.

This order has recently been augmented by one for 112 Trojan units for the 11th floor bringing the uptake to date to 250 fan coil units.

All units feature 2-port valves and fresh air intakes on the discharge plenum side and run at an elevated chilled water temperature of 12/16 in order to obviate the formation of condensate. The Trojan units in the latest order however, will have quick release electrical boxes with snap-in electrical terminals to allow quick and easy maintenance in a busy office environment.
