Air conditioning solution
12 May 2014
Providing views of the Thames and the Tower of London, Centennnium House, a commercial complex with eight floors of Category 'A' office accommodation, has recently undergone extensive refurbishment, including new mechanical and electrical services.

A major component of the services is 4-pipe fan coil, air conditioning provided by more than 200 of Ability Projects' advanced type EVO190 and 270 ceiling recessed fan coil units, supplied with chilled and hot water from the building's main services plant. Capacities of the units vary from 1.49 to 4.45kW (cooling) and 1.28 to 4.86kW (heating). Units are designed to meet requirements for cooling at 22°C ±1.50°C and 20°C ±1.50°C (heating) at JHR37 operating noise requirement.
Evolution fan coil units use advanced EC infinitely variable speed, high efficiency DC motor technology. The company says that, at a typical fan coil duty point, the EC configuration can reduce electrical input by 50 to 75% and that a typical 2 fan unit will draw 60W when powered by EC motors as against 210W in AC format.
