Fan coil units for landmark building
10 July 2014
More than 500 Ability Evolution 270 EC-DC 4-pipe fan coil units have been installed in the new Moorgate Exchange development adjacent to London's Moorgate station.

Developed to BREEAM Excellent standard, the complex will provide office accommodation over 12 floors and is designed to achieve minimal use of energy and maximise available daylight.
The Ability chassis type fan coil units have capacities of 0.8 to 5.0kW (cooling) and 1.2 to 2.17kW (heating) and are installed within the ceiling void on each floor. Ability supplied all units complete with stainless steel condensate trays, traffolyte labels, free issue 3m flying leads with tap-off for common buzz bar, speed controllers, restraining chains on access panels, fan on/off relays, acoustic plenums and compact valve sets. All units are designed to meet NR38 operating noise requirements.
Ability EVO270 units use advanced EC infinitely variable speed, high efficiency DC motor technology, which is said to bring benefits in terms of energy efficiency and controllability. For example, at a typical fan call duty point the Ability EC configuration can reduce required electrical input by between 50 and 70%, whilst a typical 2 fan unit will draw just 60W when powered by EC motors as against 210W in AC format.
